4 Details That Make DataDID’s Idle Earning Actually Efficient

4 Details That Make DataDID’s Idle Earning Actually Efficient

Since the DataDID plugin’s Data Mining feature launched, a lot of users have reported the same thing: they left the plugin running all day, checked their points, and found the number underwhelming — enough to wonder if it was even working.

The feature works fine. It’s how it’s being used that’s off.

Take a look at this comparison first. Two people, both with the plugin open, both online for a full 8 hours:

  • User A: on day 1 of running the plugin, spends the whole day bouncing between just one or two sites → Online points 48 + Data points 2 = 50 DCP
  • User B: on day 10 of a consecutive streak, browses 20 different websites across 6 categories in a normal day → Online points 72 + Data points 36 = 108 DCP

Same amount of time. More than double the points.

Where’s the gap coming from? Because DCP is made up of two parts:

  • Online points (Uptime) — earned just by having the plugin online, whether you’re active or not
  • Data points (Data) — earned only by actually browsing; no browsing means zero

If all you’re doing is leaving the plugin running, you’re only collecting half your potential points. The four details below fill in the other half.

Detail One: Turn the Switch On — But 8 Full Hours Is All You Need

The Data Mining switch is off by default and needs to be turned on manually inside the plugin. The web dashboard only displays status — the toggle itself only works from within the plugin. The first time you enable it, an authorization notice appears, and points start accumulating only after you confirm it.

Once the switch is on, the second thing that matters more: online points are only calculated for 8 hours a day.

The base rate is 6 points per hour, with a daily cap at 8 hours. In other words, staying online for 24 hours earns exactly the same online points as staying online for 8 — the extra 16 hours earn nothing.

One thing worth noting: while time beyond 8 hours doesn’t add points, it also doesn’t hurt your consecutive-day streak.

The takeaway is simple: make sure you’re online for 8 hours a day. There’s no need to leave it running all night burning power for nothing.

Detail Two: A Streak Is a Free 50% Bonus

Online points carry a streak multiplier based purely on how many consecutive days you’ve been online:

  • Day 1: ×1.0, full attendance earns 48 points
  • Day 7: ×1.35, full attendance earns 65 points
  • Day 10 onward: ×1.5 (capped), full attendance earns 72 points

From day 1 to day 10, without doing anything extra, you earn 24 more points per day — a 50% increase.

So consistency is worth more than duration. Rather than running the plugin for 16 hours on any single day, it’s far more valuable to keep those 8 hours steady for 10 days straight.

Detail Three: Data Points Are About “How Many Sites You Visited,” Not “How Long You Stayed”

This is the most counterintuitive detail, and the most valuable one.

Data points aren’t measured in traffic or duration — they’re measured by the number of unique domains effectively visited that day. The rules are:

  • Each domain earns 1 base point; visiting the same domain multiple times in a day only counts once
  • Any single site with less than 5 seconds of dwell time doesn’t count as an effective visit
  • A maximum of 20 domains count per day; anything beyond that earns nothing further

On top of that base score, a diversity multiplier applies:

  • 1–5 domains: ×1.0
  • 6–19 domains: ×1.2
  • 20 or more: ×1.5

There are two traps here, and falling into either one means wasted browsing:

Trap one: spending 8 hours on a single site only counts as 1 domain. Deep browsing on one site earns no extra credit for data points — the system only cares about how many different places you visited that day.

Trap two: sub-domains get merged. news.qq.com and sports.qq.com both count as qq.com, counted as a single domain. Switching channels within the same portal won’t build up your domain count.

One more threshold worth remembering: the 20th website is worth 9 points.

At the highest tier, visiting 19 domains works out to roughly 19 × 1 × 1.2 × 1.2 ≈ 27 points. Visiting 20 domains works out to 20 × 1 × 1.5 × 1.2 = 36 points. Just one more site pushes the diversity multiplier from ×1.2 to ×1.5, a 9-point swing.

So the daily target is clear: hit 20 unique domains — anything from the 21st site onward earns nothing more.

Detail Four: Sites Need to Span Categories — Staying in One Bubble Gets You Discounted

Hitting 20 domains is just the baseline. On top of that, a quality multiplier applies, based on how many categories the sites you visited that day actually span:

  • 1–2 categories: ×0.8 (note — this is a penalty, not a bonus)
  • 3–5 categories: ×1.0
  • 6 or more categories: ×1.2

How big is the difference? For the same 20 domains:

  • Only browsing social media and video: 20 × 1.5 × 0.8 = 24 points
  • Covering 6 categories: 20 × 1.5 × 1.2 = 36 points

Same 20 websites, same amount of time — a 12-point gap.

The system’s category classification is based on standard website content taxonomies. Common top-level categories include news, technology/digital products, finance/investment, e-commerce/shopping, social media, video entertainment, education/academic, healthcare, gaming, travel, productivity tools, and legal/government.

Hitting 6 categories really isn’t hard — checking the news, looking something up, browsing an online store, scrolling social media, opening a productivity tool, and watching a video already covers it in a normal day online.

One tip: domains too obscure for the system to recognize get classified as “uncategorized.” They still count toward your domain total, but not toward your category count. If your quality tier isn’t climbing, this might be why.

The plugin dashboard shows your data quality tier in real time (High Quality / Standard / Low Quality), so you can check and adjust it the same day.

Daily Action Checklist

Complete these five steps for a perfect score each day:

  • Turn on the “Data Mining” switch inside the plugin
  • Stay online for 8 hours — no need to push beyond that
  • Don’t break your streak — hit the ×1.5 multiplier starting day 10
  • Visit 20 unique domains, remembering that root domains get deduplicated, with at least 5 seconds spent on each
  • Make sure those 20 sites span 6 or more categories

Online 72 + Data 36 = 108 DCP per day

On Privacy, to Be Clear

The Data Mining switch is off by default and only activates with your explicit authorization. Collected browsing behavior is de-identified via ZK proofs and packaged locally — raw browsing records are never uploaded, only the proof itself is submitted. The switch can be turned off at any time; doing so stops collection immediately, and all points already earned remain intact.
